EQM has performed numerous task orders at the Oronogo-Duenweg Mining Belt in Missouri — the former mining and smelting operations across 270 square miles left behind contaminated soil, groundwater, and surface water. Contaminants such as lead, zinc, and cadmium remain as cleanup efforts are still ongoing today. So far, EQM has assisted with the following:
Excavated, consolidated, and transported over 2.4M cubic yards of arsenic, lead, and zinc-contaminated soil from 32 properties over 770 acres.
Developed, constructed, and filled a 60-acre repository with stormwater retention basins, let-down channels, and rip-rap swales.
Transported waste and contaminated soil to repository.
Performed site restoration activities – fine grading and hydroseeding of 32 disturbed hours.
Removed sediments with visible chat/mine waste from a 1500-foot stream.
Excavated banks and stream bottom and restored stream.
