Environmental, Health, Safety
& Security Auditing Projects
Brown-Forman Distillery Company
EQ personnel have supported Brown-Forman Corporation since 1994. We have completed nearly 100 projects at 22 current and former facilities in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, California, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Ontario, Canada. Facility types included distilleries, cooperage houses, saw mills, wineries, and vineyard operations. EQ has performed multimedia environmental compliance audits at all the facilities (both baseline and review audits), development of environmental compliance binders, air permitting, air emission inventories, SARA evaluations, storm water pollution prevention plan development, SPCC Plan preparation and PE certification, groundwater protection plan development, training related to Clean Water Act programs and EPCRA, industrial hygiene exposure monitoring, process safety management, and on-site environmental support at B-F corporate headquarters.
Major Aluminum Manufacturer (Confidential Client)
EQ has performed Phase I Environmental Business Divestiture Assessments (EBDAs) for a major aluminum manufacturer with facilities located throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia. As part of this project, we documented reasonable ascertainable information that indicated the presence or likely presence of recognized environmental conditions at the facilities as defined by the latest ASTM International designation - Standard Practice for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Process (E 1527-05). Each EBDA was completed by an Environmental Professional (EP) as defined in the ASTM standard. Based on the site history and location of the designated facilities, we evaluated the surrounding and adjoining properties to the extent practically reviewable, as well as the business environmental risk associated with the potential property divestiture.
We also evaluated each site based on the minimum standards set forth in the RFP that included: a materiality threshold greater than $50,000; significant potential future environmental, health, and safety (EHS) liabilities [i.e., presence of asbestos-containing material (ACM), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), or chlorinated organics contamination]; and a basic environmental characterization of the real estate.
The scope of this project involved an investigation by qualified environmental professionals into current and past activities that could adversely impact the environmental conditions of a property or result in future liabilities. A total of 44 sites located throughout North America, Mexico, Honduras, Brazil, Western and Central Europe, and China were visited.
GE Transportation
EQ conducted Environmental Health and Safety Audits at eight GE Transportation sites in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana in CY 2004 2005 and 2006.
We also conducted third-party audits of GE Transportation Engine Services and Supply Chain sites throughout the United States (CY04).
We conducted an Environmental Audit of GE Transportation's Evendale, Ohio facility, which focused on plant waste and underground storage tanks. We also reviewed Evendale's Facility Response Plan and upgraded the facility's ICP/SPCC plans.
Additionally, we conducted an Environmental Audit of the rail supply chain of GE Transportation's Erie, Pa. site.
